4 Day Kosi Bay Turtles Tour
Come with us to visit magical Kosi Bay, located on the tip of the Greater St Lucia / iSimangaliso Wetland Park – a World Heritage Site – located on the north eastern coast of Kwazulu-Natal not far from the border between South Africa and Mozambique.
Doing this tour from October to January gives us a chance to see the Leatherbacks laying their eggs!
It is here that we get to watch nature in action – huge Leatherback and Loggerhead turtles pulling themselves out of the water onto the beach to nest and lay their eggs in October to January.
If we go from January to April we may see the hatchlings running for the ocean…
Later in January to April we can watch their hatchlings heading back out to sea. We might get really lucky if we do this tour in January and see both the turtles coming up to lay their eggs, and the hatchlings from previous clutches running for the sea!
Viewing these magnificent creatures is a once in a lifetime experience not to be missed!
Of, there are so many other things we also see in Kosi Bay and Bhanga Nek!
The Kosi Bay and Bhanga Nek ecosystem is also where we can find a huge variety of birds and animals including hippo and crocodile.
The miles and miles of unspoiled beach walks alone make this a place you will remember forever.
Also only found at Kosi Bay in South Africa are the Raffia Palms which boast the biggest leaf in the world. Each tree only bears fruit once in it’s life … they are fed on by both Egyptian Fruit Bats and Palmnut Vultures. While exploring nature you can also see Narina trogon and Pels fishing owl … and to see all this you don’t even have to leave South Africa!
Last, but not least, if we are lucky we will also get to see the seasonal visits of Humpback Whales, so this tour is well worth the effort.
