Drakensberg
Culture
HikeThis is a 12-day slackpacking
tour where accommodation is arranged for you in
self-catering cottages every night.
Included in this option are 5 days of 'day walks' from the
South to the North of the Drakensberg;
4-5 days (depending on your requirements) of Bush Excursions
in Hluhluwe-Umfolozi
Game Reserve;
3 days of touring the Northern KwaZulu-Natal Battlefields;
There is a minimum of 'driving
time', with a maximum 1 hour of driving on most days;
Throughout this holiday, there are
options which include bird-watching. and seasonal activities
such as white-water rafting with river
guides on the best rivers in South Africa, including the
Umkomaas and the Umzimkhulu, mountain biking, etc.

See some of the sites of famous Boer and Zulu War battles, accommodation is arranged at Spionkop, this is a 3 day tour, including visits to the following Northern KwaZulu-Natal Battlefields:
Spionkop
(an historic occasion where three of the pivotal figures of
world history: Winston
Churchill, then a journalist and Lieutenant in the South
African Light Horse; Mohandas
Karamchand Gandhi, then a stretcher-bearer in the Indian
Ambulance Corps; and General
Louis Botha, then commander of the Boer contingent, were
all present on the battlefield);

of Isandlwana;
Rorkes
Drift Battlefield.

Flyfishing in freestone streams and dams of the KwaZulu-Natal
Drakensberg with George Forder, he will:
Guide you to the lesser known streams of the Natal Drakensberg
providing knowledge of flies, techniques and methods for
catching the brown and rainbow trout of the Drakensberg;
Help you with stillwater techniques in the dams and reserves
surrounding the Drakensberg;
Demonstrate and teach you to tie the local flies, either
imitative or traditional;
Take you on single day excursions or multi day backpacking
trips with fly fishing as a focus or option.
